ABOUT JMM

A BRIEF HISTORY

Daniel L. Johnson, a proud Mississippian, moved to Nashville in 1989. It was his third move to Music City. As they say, the third time has been the charm. In his second life in Nashville from 1976 to 1978, Daniel worked for a brief time at an independent record company - True Records - which artist roster included Claude King and Leon Everette. While in this position at the company, Daniel learned some hard lessons about the music industry. At the same time, he met some life-long musical friends who are still members of his musical circles today. In 1978, Daniel left Music City and for 11 years traveled throughout the world and attended graduate school in Fort Worth, TX, receiving his Master of Communication degree. Eventually, in 2004, obtaining this degree paid off when he was hired to be an instructor in Speech Communication at Columbia State Community College. It took a couple of years for Daniel to re-establish himself in the music industry after moving back to Nashville in 1989. In 1991, he was hired by Country artist Paul Overstreet to be his personal assistant during the time Overstreet was at his heights as a songwriter and an artist.
